CD recording
In the summer of 2007 Chih-Lin Chou, guzheng, and Yang Li, erhu, came together from a common cultural heritage to explore the possibilities of composing / improvising pieces bathed in Chinese tradition, but seen through more modern eyes. This collaborative procedure resulted in series of pieces entitled Improvisation Based on Nature, of which Flowering is one movement. The flower in the minds of the performers is the Chinese peony, a plant that bridges the rapid growth of spring, and the stability of early summer. In many ways this piece reflects the rapid the rapid growth and maturation of the musical relationship of Chih-Lin Chou and Yang Li.

Gzem Trio
The exquisite sounds of traditional China -- the guzheng (Chinese zither) and the erhu (Chinese fiddle), with the addition of the colors added by western and Chinese percussion, this is the world of the GZEM Trio. Music that arrests the attention and attracts the heart, delicacy and passion.
Melodies drawn from the thousand year old tradition of ancient China are performed by Chih-Lin Chou, guzheng and Yang Li, erhu, both traditionally trained Chinese virtuosi. Their sounds capture and express the sentiments of a culture where less speaks more. The simple melodic phrase is framed by passionate yet controled gestures -- the Chinese experience of gently capturing the imagination and the soul.
